- Approximately 3,000 adolescents will start smoking today. They start smoking at an average age of 14.5 years old and 30 to 50% of them become addicted. Out of those 3,000 adolescents, 1,000 will die of their addiction to tobacco as adults.
- 767,452 kids have become regular smokers since 2001 began and 245,584 will die from their addiction.
- Cigarettes are generally the first drug used by teens. The drug being used is nicotine. Nicotine contains over 500 substances such as formaldehyde, cyanide and insecticides.
